MMAR Definition
Marijuana Medical Access Regulations (MMAR) was enacted in July, 2001 in Canada with the express purpose of outlining the manner and circumstances in which access to marijuana for medical purposes would be allowed for use legally. Components of this regulations act included authorizations to possess dried marijuana for medical purposes, licenses to grow and produce marijuana, and access to purchase marijuana seeds or dried marijuana. However, this Canadian regulation has since been repealed as of March 31, 2014, and replaced by the Marijuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR), due to concerns that the MMAR was open to being abused unlawfully as it allowed individuals to grow cannabis themselves or have it grown for them.
