Marijuana Legalization Definition
Marijuana Legalization is a hot topic in Canada as of 2017, with complete legalization for both medical and recreational use on the horizon (possibly as soon as spring 2017), as promised by PM Justin Trudeau. However, Canadian officials have yet to outline their legalization strategy for the controlled production, distribution and consumption of legalized marijuana, as well as keeping it out of the hands of minors. As of March 2017, Canada is in no hurry to legalize marijuana with the parliamentary secretary to Canada’s justice minister, Mr. Bill Blair stating, “We will take as much time as it takes to do it right”. As it stands now, marijuana is considered a schedule II drug under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act; it is illegal to possess and sell marijuana unless strictly for medical reasons and with the proper identification.
