What Does Being High Feel Like?
Being high feels different depending on a variety of factors. Are you having a good trip or a bad trip? Are you smoking indica or sativa? Are you smoking? Dabbing? Vaping or consuming edibles? Are you using a THC heavy strain or a CBD heavy strain? Each of these have different implications for your own personal experience.
A Good High
If you are having a good high, there are a wide range of feelings you could experience like mental euphoria, inner calmness, bodily relaxation, blissful drowsiness, increased appetite and sense of taste, increased arousal and sense of sexual pleasure.
A Bad High
If you are having a bad high, you might feel incredibly anxious or even paranoid. Your dry eyes and mouth will annoy you and it will be difficult to get or stay comfortable. The best way to prevent a bad high is to take breaks between smoking to check in with yourself and see how you feel. If you’re feeling great, why roll the dice by consuming more? Taking in too much THC at once can have adverse effects that can result in an ugly experience. This is most common when consuming edibles, as it is hard to gauge how much THC you are consuming.
An Indica High
Indica highs are generally more sedative and body based. Your eye lids may get heavy as if you were being hypnotized. A mental fog might overcome you, making you feel sleepy. Indica highs are best before bed. Just make sure to vacuum the chip crumbs in the morning!
A Sativa High
A sativa high makes you feel uplifted and energetic. Doing a painting? Writing a new song for your acoustic guitar? Sativa will give you the inspiration and get-up-and-go motivation you need. The energy boost can be compared to a cup of coffee or tea. Many describe a sativa high as pleasantly cerebral. Best to avoid before bed.
Smoking, Vaping and Dabbing Highs
If you are using one of the above methods, you will likely feel high within fifteen minutes of ingestion or even sooner. It should be noted that dabbing will make you much, much higher than smoking or vaping since dabs have a much higher THC content.
Edible High
If you are using edibles, the high may take as long as two hours to present itself, but once it does, it can be a powerful body buzz. Many medicinal users say the edible high is a very effective painkiller. Life advice: wait for the initial edible to kick in prior to consuming a second. Most seasoned cannabis users will tell you they’ve made this mistake in the past, leaving them utterly couch-locked for hours.
THC-heavy Strains Make You Higher
The more THC in your marijuana or marijuana concentrate, the higher you will get. With the proliferation of marijuana becoming available on the internet, it is easier than ever to check the THC content that best suits the experience you’re looking for.
CBD-heavy Strains Don’t Get You As High
If a strain is high in CBD and low in THC, you will likely experience very few if any psychological effects. High CBD strains are ideal for users looking to heal physical pain and not “get trippy, man.”
