Nail Definition
A Nail in the cannabis community refers to a tool used to vaporize concentrated forms of cannabis called “dabs”. Not to be confused with the more conventional use of the term “nail” used to fasten pieces of wood together, the cannabis “nail” is a fixture that can easily be fitted into a smoking device such as a bong stem which can then have concentrated cannabis applied to it and heated to facilitate vaporizing. A carb cap (another tool used in the vaporization of plant matter/cannabis) is often used in conjunction with a nail. Benefits of using such tools for cannabis consumption is the potency of vaporizing at optimal temperatures and easy cleanup, while avoiding potential harmful carcinogens that traditional combustion (smoking) methods of consuming cannabis may expose one to. Nails used to consume cannabis are typically made of titanium metal, but ceramic and quartz variants do exist.
