Medical Pot Definition
Medical Pot (“pot” being a slang term for marijuana) consists of any part of the marijuana plant and is typically intended for use by patients to relieve symptoms of a medical illness or condition, not necessarily for its psychoactive effect. Medical Pot is sold legally as a medicine, but it requires a prescription from a licensed doctor in order to be purchased. The marijuana plant is comprised of several cannabinoids, of which THC and CBD are the most sought after. While THC is generally considered to provide the more pleasurable effects of marijuana, CBD doesn’t cause a “high”, but rather provides positive health benefits without the psychoactive component. There is a moderate amount of evidence that Medical Pot displays properties that aid in chronic pain and muscle spasms reduction; it has also been used when other treatment methods have been ineffective. Common ailments treated with Medical Pot include anorexia, arthritis, migraine and glaucoma.
