What Is Bubble Hash?
One of the most potent forms of hashish available is bubble hash. Bubble hash is made by using ice and ice water to agitate trichome-heavy cannabis flowers and leaves. Flowers and plant matter are passed through a succession of bubble bags, which separates the resin glands(trichomes) from the plant matter, leaving you with a more concentrated form of cannabinoids (found in trichomes). The result of this process is bubble hash.
History
From a historical perspective, bubble hash was first developed by cannabis legend “BubbleMan.” Allegedly, he started using sieves and ice water to create a very pure form of hash (tested at levels of 63% THC). The sieves he used eventually became known as “bubble bags.”
Name Origin: Bubble Hash
Bubble hash received its unique name for two reasons:
1)The hash tends to bubble when heated
2)Bubble bags are used to sift trichomes from plant material during extraction
How Is It Made?
Bubble Hash can be made from multiple strains of cannabis. To start, put 100 grams of cannabis into ice water and agitate it with an eggbeater or cake mixer for 15-20 minutes.
Use micron bags as a filtering system to remove the resin and trichomes from the plant. Each micron bag will collect a little bit of resin. Once the resin glands are collected, the next step is to crush them into a powder.
This powder is then laced with oils that make the substance stick together. Quantities will vary, but a standard ratio of 10 grams of hash per 100 grams of weed seems to be average. Typically, the product will be dark brown or black in appearance, but sometimes turns out to be green or yellow, with a pasty to solid consistency.
Health Benefits
A very popular choice among health-conscious cannabis consumers who frown on extraction methods involving butane, it also appeals to medicinal marijuana consumers who want to avoid smoke and chemicals when possible. One of the health benefits of smoking just the resin or trichomes of the cannabis plant is avoiding all the unwanted chemicals that arise from plant combustion. Many users also report that the high one gets from bubble hash is not only more potent, but also free of many unwanted side effects like tiredness and lung irritation.
How Is It Consumed?
In terms of consumption method, Bubble Hash can be tossed in a bong, joint or even dabbed (but not at super high temperatures or it will be destroyed).
Cost
Compared to chemically extracted forms of hash like BHO, budder, wax, and shatter, bubble hash is less expensive. While the products mentioned above sell for between $40 and $100 per gram, bubble hash tends to be in the $10-30 range. This is because water is cheaper than butane or alcohol.
Rookie users should beware. Due to its high concentration of THC, bubble hash will get one far more intoxicated than smoking your average strain of marijuana.
