The time it takes for cannabinoids to take effect depends on the delivery method being used.  Consumption methods may include sublingually, smoking the dry flower, vaporizing BHO or eating medicated foods(edibles). When smoking dry cannabis flower or vaporizing a form of hash oil, the cannabinoids can be felt within a few minutes, though it wears off sooner. Edibles can take between 30 minutes and two hours to take full effect.

“Stoned” means to be under the influence of drugs, especially for recreational purposes. The slang term usually refers to marijuana, but it can also refer to other drugs and occasionally to alcohol. “Getting stoned” is the action of doing drugs, while “being stoned” is the state of being high. Marijuana does not cause dehydration, but it does accelerate it. THC binds to gland receptors in your mouth that produce saliva, which leads to a temporary halt in saliva development. It isn’t recommended that you combine marijuana with other products that cause dehydration, such as medication and alcohol. It’s important to stay hydrated while consuming or smoking marijuana.

Weed should feel at least a little bit sticky when you try to break it up. The stickiness comes from cannabis resin, an adhesive substance produced by glands on the cannabis plant. A study at Johns Hopkins confirmed that smoking in this fashion can get users far more intoxicated.  They achieved this by placing non-smokers in the same environment as those who were inhaling the smoke first hand, then measuring the effects that the second hand smoke had on the non-smoking participants.  Some refer to this as a contact high.

THC affects us each uniquely and different methods of consumption will create varied experiences for the user. When traditionally smoking marijuana, the body absorbs THC quickly and the effect is a rather pleasant, immediate high. When ingested orally, THC can take up to three hours to activate in the body. Marijuana can soothe anxiety in some users while causing it in others. It is said that frequent marijuana users tend to fall into the soothing category, while rookie or occasional users are more likely to experience paranoid episodes. Normal, short-term cannabis use cannot make you hallucinate.
